“At the end of ME3, I find myself almost wanting Shepard to die. She would die saving the galaxy, and her friends are left asking themselves why she had to be the one and not them. But they know she died a hero, and vow to make her name live on for eternity. It’s a tragic and poetic ending to the trilogy - but perfect nonetheless.”

Except Shepard already died once for the very same reason…so dying at the end of the game would have little tragic or poetic impact. At least for me, it would feel like “Been there, done that”.
